every once in a while, something happens that is so fantastic...

---

...that you find yourself at a loss for words.

a moment that makes an entire life governed by confusion and coincidence, instantly become logical.  within that moment, you realize why God placed you on this earth - and why He chose this infinitely small fragment of eternity for you to carry out your life...

i was shocked by a bagel.

yes, i was literally shocked by half of a blueberry bagel with a strawberry cream cheese spread.

as i tried to step into my car, precariously balancing two open bagel halves on the palm of my hand, one fell and proceded to roll along the floor...much longer than you would expect a bagel to roll.  (in truth, the entire event seemed to unfold in slow motion)  on its edge, much like a wheel, it rolled in increasingly smaller circles before resting face up on the grease-stained floor of the car port.  reaching down to pick up my now-inedible bagel, my mind was beginning to fill with an ominous cloud of negativity having lost my afternoon snack...the sole consolation of my commute to work.  but just as quickly as these depressive thoughts entered, they were immediately neutralized by a divine spark of electricity traveling between myself (and my outreached finger tips) and the aforementioned blueberry bagel half.

it is at moments like these, that with such incredible clarity, those blessed to bear witness to these events seem to display overwhelming gifts of oration in hopes of bringing the moment into some sort of comprehension to those around.  and indeed, in light of the moment, i responded in much the same way.

"whoa, that was weird," i said aloud, to no one in particular - as i was, in fact, alone at the time.

the weather is incredibly dry right now.

summer was cool...thailand, camp counselor, work, school...

alright, now that i've caught all of you up with what i've been up to since my last entry, let's get down to business:

so, my man nick tong told me about this site, albumbase.com...i'm addicted.  here's what i have obtained through said site thus far (in no particular order)...

Sublime Acoustic: Bradley Nowell and Friends (Sublime)
Right Back (Long Beach Dub Allstars)
Wonders of the World (Long Beach Dub Allstars)
Radiodread (Easy Star All-Stars)
Arular (M.I.A.)
A Grand Don't Come for Free (The Streets)
No Shame (Pepper)
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou Soundtrack
Rage Against the Machine (Rage Against the Machine)
The Battle of Los Angeles (Rage Against the Machine)
Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden)
2001 (Dr. Dre)

here's some other stuff i've been listening to, just so that you can get a scope of my musical preferences: queen (under pressure), bon jovi (you give love a bad name), david bowie (pretty much everything, but "queen b*tch" is especially awesome...oh, and "under pressure" again), devo (gut feeling), iggy pop/iggy and the stooges (endless sea/search and destroy), rod stewart (maggie may), the blood arm ("suspicious characters" is my theme song...yeah, i called it, suckers), etc.

do yourself a favor and hit up that site, or check out the aforementioned albums/bands (they all rock, guaranteed).

"the man" finally caught up to me...

...and proceded to sucker punch me in the eye.

a chunk of my last paycheck was taken from me.  usually i'm exempt, but because i'm not enrolled in classes over the summer, i got taxed.  almost $20 taken from my biweekly wages.

at least i have a nice retirement fund of $15.71 set aside, now.

when i retire, i'm going to get me and my lady a nice dinner at the denny's.  classy.

a lot of times we forget

...who we were...how we were...where we came from...

we get caught up in what we are now...

or what we want people to see...

...what we have become. and

what we don't want people to remember

but we have always been the same person

but we will always be the same person

what we are isn't who we are
